Frequently Asked Doodle ?s

Think you’re ready for a medium doodle or mini doodle to cuddle and love, to play with and to care for?
Here are a few questions often asked of us to help you make your decision easier…

Which kinds of doodles do you breed?

We breed both F1 and F1b Labradoodles. An F1 generation doodle is a cross between pure bred Labrador Retriever and a pure bred Poodle. The result is a 50% lab and 50% poodle mix. An F1b generation doodle is a pure bred Poodle bred back to an F1 Labradoodle. The result is a 25% lab and 75% poodle mix. All of our pure bred parents are AKC registered.

What is the difference between a medium doodle and a mini doodle?

The main difference between medium doodles and mini doodles is size. A medium doodle typically weighs between 30 and 45 lbs., with its height between 17 and 20 inches high. A mini doodle typically weighs between 15 and 25 lbs., with its height between 14 and 16 inches.

What is the difference between F1 and F1b coats? How often will I need to visit the puppy salon for hair trims?

Doodles need a regular hair care routine to keep the knots away!

F1 doodle coats are fairly low maintenance but do require occasional grooming.  We recommend taking your F1 doodle to the groomer at least 2 - 3 times per year. F1 doodle coats range from smooth to wavy. Some F1 doodles will shed some, while others will have low shedding. F1 doodles are usually good for families with mild allergies.

F1b doodle coats do require more maintenance. We recommend taking your F1b doodle to the groomer at least once every 2-3 months. F1b doodle coats are typically thicker and more curly than an F1 doodle. F1b doodles typically have very low shedding. F1b doodles are usually good for families with moderate to high allergies.

**Please be aware that no dog is guaranteed to be allergy-friendly towards everybody. The gene which causes the allergic reactions can just as well be in the dogs’ saliva as it can in the coat and dandruff.

How much do they cost?

Our doodles are $3,300 (F1) and $3,800 (F1b). We ask for a $500 deposit and completed deposit form to be added to a waitlist. Deposits are completely refundable up to the 6 week selection appointment and can be made via Venmo, PayPal, cashiers check or cash.

Final payment (total cost minus the deposit) is due at or before your 6 week selection appointment. Final payment is only accepted via cashiers check or cash.

Our puppy price includes de-worming, 1st set of immunizations, dew-claw removal (mediums only) and puppy take home kit. The take home kit includes a folder with information on pedigrees, verification of 1st set of immunizations and puppy tips; a bag of the puppy’s food which will last about 1 week; a toy/teething ring and a blanket with mother’s scent for the first nights in your puppy’s new home.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Yes, we offer a one year health guarantee for Hip Dysplasia, Elbow Dysplasia, Blindness from Genetic Eye Disorder or Heart Disease requiring daily medication or surgery. If your puppy is found to have any of the faults listed above by 1 year of age, we will offer a replacement puppy of equal value, quality and sex at no charge within 12 months, upon presentation of said fault by a licensed veterinarian.

Additionally, the buyer has (7) seven days from puppy pick up to have the puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian. If the veterinarian finds the puppy to be seriously illness; contagious, congenital or hereditary in nature (this does not include the presence of external or internal parasites), the puppy can be returned and another puppy of equal value or a full purchase price refund will be given.

How soon can I place a deposit? What if there are not enough puppies born in the litter or the gender I want is not available?

We accept deposits throughout the year, refundable until your 6 week puppy selection appointment.  See our Available Puppies page for our current wait lists and deposit information.

Buyers must understand that we cannot guarantee the results of a litter. Our wait list is a rolling wait list per type of puppy and not a litter specific wait list. Once a litter is born we will contact those at the top of that wait list and confirm if they would like a puppy from that specific litter. That person may choose to take a puppy from that litter or stay on the wait list for a future litter. As we go down our list, your spot on the wait list will move up as those above you choose to take a puppy.

***Please note as we are change the way our wait list works, until our Spring/Summer 2021 litters go home, your spot could potentially go down if someone from those litters does not get a puppy and rolls over to the new wait list.***

***Breeder has first right of refusal for all first litter picks.

How is puppy selection made? When can I pick up my puppy?

Puppy selection is made at 6 weeks old in order of the wait list. Selection appointments are typically held on a Saturday at our home in Penryn, CA.  You will be notified of your selection date and time once the litter is born.  If you are unable to make your selection appointment, we reserve the right to help you make the selection via FaceTime so as not to prevent others on the wait list from making their puppy selection.

Puppies are picked up at 8 weeks old.  You will be notified of your pick up date once the litter is born.  We will schedule your pick up appointment time at your puppy selection appointment.

Do you ship puppies?

We prefer to transport our puppies that have to make a flight via Airport Delivery Service or Puppy Nanny Service and not in the cargo of a plane. Shipping an 8 week old puppy in the cargo of a plane is very traumatic for your puppy.

Airport Delivery Service: This is when you book a flight into our local airport (Sacramento International Airport) and a return flight back home including a booking with your airline for a puppy to ride in-cabin with you on your return flight. Once you land at the airport we will hand deliver you your puppy. You can then quickly get back on board your return flight and the puppy can ride with you in the cabin of the plane. The additional cost of this service is $200. (Buyer is also responsible for all associated flight and travel fees to be paid to the airline.)

Puppy Nanny Service: This is when we arrange to fly your puppy directly to your nearest airport. You meet us at the airport when we land and we deliver your puppy to you. The additional cost of this service is $500 plus the cost of a round trip ticket to your airport from Sacramento International Airport.
